Welcome to Weddings Week 2013, our week-long ode to nuptials in Boston.

Now, onto the centerpiece of every wedding: the dress. The symbolism, the hunt, the price tag. TV shows revolve around them, many dream of them from a young age, others just want something they won’t trip in as they walk down the aisle. Wherever you lie on the spectrum of gown-obsessed, the fact remains that every bride needs a getup that makes her feel out of this world. Here we’ve gathered seven different purveyors of the beloved clothing item, from Boston designers to bridal salons stocking the world’s most sought after couture and even a discount retailer in Watertown.

LUKE AARON
The North End designer is posted up at his 38A Fleet Street showroom, making countless custom pieces and developing his bridal line. Every dress is made-to-order following a consultation, with designs that are romantic and straddle the line between traditional and contemporary. Luke Aaron even has a few styles that aren’t white—perfect for an alternative bride or second wedding.
L’ELITE BRIDAL AND L’ELITE BRIDESMAIDS
Have caviar taste? Then you’ll surely settle for no less than service at L’Elite, a Boston institution for the last quarter century. Creme de la creme describes both the salespeople and the selection at this 14 Newbury Street salon, with styles from Carolina Herrera, Reem Acra, and Monique Lhuillier, as well as accessories to complete the couture look. Also in the space is a broad selection of bridesmaid frocks from similar caliber designers. Frequent trunk shows let clients preview what’s ahead at the appointment-only showroom.
FLAIR BRIDES & MAIDS
Flair bridal boutique stands apart for a couple reasons—a focus on bridesmaids and wedding dresses for under $3000. Hence, it is the place to go for the everyday gal who is looking for a detail-oriented experience with styles that look beautiful from brands like Siri, Nicole Miller, and Jenny Yoo. The 140 Newbury Street shop is appointment only, and of course, your closest friends and family are invited.

GREGORY PAUL
Gregory Paul is poised to become one of Boston’s top designers given his focus on USA-made luxury items utilizing fine materials like alligator skin and French lace. The Lasell grad can work on demicouture custom gowns, but we’re particularly smitten with the plunge neck, long sleeved beauty on the left. His atelier is available by appointment only.
MUSETTE
Another Newbury Street boutique, Musette stocks sophisticated designers that hail from Paris, Barcelona, New York and beyond, including Jenny Packham, Romona Keseva, and Yolan Cris. Located at 123 Newbury, the studio can also work on custom designs and even offers a tailor to assist brides on the wedding day.
FIRAS YOUSIF ORIGINALS
This Boston couturier is known for his one-of-a-kind pieces, with the current collection featuring both classically demure dresses and more avant-garde styles. The 35 Newbury Street atelier is open by appointment only—totally worth a visit if dramatic is your desired vibe.
VOWS
Star of the TLC show I Found the Gown, Vows is the first and largest discount designer gown emporium. The 20-year old company is based in Watertown (130 Galen Street) and appointment only. Alongside its own line Liv Harris, you’ll also find plus sizes and a selection of marked down Badgley Mischka, Elie Saab, Givenchy, Oscar de la Renta, and more.
