BUNGLING prison bosses have risked carnage by throwing a vicious drug baron in the same jail as his sworn enemy.
BUNGLING prison bosses have risked carnage by throwing a vicious drug baron in the same jail as his sworn enemy.
Gangster John Haase, 61, was caged alongside fearsome crime lord Curtis Warren, 48, and sources say brutal revenge attacks were immediately being planned.
When the blunder was spotted Warren, Britain’s richest convicted drug boss, was moved to another Category A jail in a huge operation involving numerous officers.
A source said: “Haase’s feet had hardly touched the ground before Warren caught wind of his arrival. It wasn’t long before there were whispers of planned attacks.
“They go back years and have a lot of unsettled scores – it’s an honour thing.
“The governors acted quickly to split the pair up and rapidly moved Warren on.
“Someone clearly didn’t do their homework properly. To put those two together with their history was madness, a total recipe for disaster. They are incredibly dangerous and should not be underestimated.”
Warren was transferred from Long Lartin prison in South Littleton, Worcs, to Full Sutton in East Yorks as soon as the monumental error was discovered.
The men have been arch enemies since they each ran ruthless rival crime empires in their home city of Liverpool in the 90s.
Warren, who at one point had an estimated fortune of £300million, was jailed for 13 years in 2009 over a plot to smuggle £1million of cannabis into Jersey.
He was put away after undercover police busted him and five gang members in 2007 just days after he had been released from prison for a previous offence.
Warren, nicknamed Cocky because he thought he was untouchable, was once Interpol’s most wanted man. He appeared on the Sunday Times Rich List as a “property developer”.
Drug lord Haase is serving 22 years for conning his way to an early release from jail in 1996.
He was allowed home after seemingly turning supergrass, telling cops where to find a weapons stash. It turned out he planted the guns.
