A kind-hearted window cleaner has been giving up his time to clean the district’s road signs.
Kelvin Crane, who grew up in the South Holland area and runs K.J Crane Window Cleaning, has been washing dirty road signs for the past three years.
He explained: “I just stop and do them when I go past one that’s really bad.”
Keeping a bucket of water in the back of his van proves very handy when coming across a dirty road sign, wherever he may be.
Kelvin has washed signs all over the county including in villages such as Gedney, Sutton St James and Long Sutton.
He spoke about how cleaning unclear road signs doesn’t only improve the appearance of the village; it also acts as a safety feature to ensure that people on the road are aware of the speed limits and other factors that could pose a threat to drivers.
Such a simple action is able to do so much for the community.
His work within the community hasn’t gone unnoticed. Members of the public are grateful for the cleaner, safer road signs.
He has received a very positive reaction surrounding his kind acts for the community via his Facebook page.
Bill Harrison, Chairman of Sutton St James Parish Council, commented upon his work by saying: “It’s really good community spirit. More people should do more little community jobs without being asked.”
Kelvin described his work within the community as simply “giving a little bit back” and plans to continue washing the “unsightly” road signs to improve the appearance of the villages and also because they just ‘bug him.’
Photos of his work was shared on the Spotted Long Sutton Facebook page, with the comment: ‘Let’s show one of our local window cleaners some appreciation for cleaning road signs on his rounds. Thank you so much Kelvin Crane x.’
‘Great job – thank you very much’, added another. ‘Well done Kelvin!!’ said one more.
